What is the Discount Calculator?

The discount calculator shows what you pay after a percentage discount, and after an optional extra discount applied on the reduced price. It returns the amount you pay, the money you save and the combined discount, which is smaller than the two percentages added.

How it works

The first discount reduces the list price by the given percentage. The extra discount is then applied to that reduced price, not to the original. You pay the final figure and you save the list price minus what you pay. Two discounts of 20 and 10 per cent together equal 28 per cent.

How to use it

  1. Enter the list price.
  2. Enter the discount percentage.
  3. Optionally add an extra discount percentage.
  4. Read what you pay and what you save.
Questions

Discount Calculator — FAQ

Why is 20 per cent plus 10 per cent not 30 per cent?

The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so it removes less money than 10 per cent of the original. The combined discount is 28 per cent.

Can I leave the extra discount empty?

Yes. Keep it at zero and the tool shows a single discount only.

Does this include GST?

No. Enter a price with or without tax, and the result will be on the same basis.
