Wi-Fi QR Code Generator
Make a QR code that lets guests join your Wi-Fi by scanning, with the name and password escaped correctly.
What is the Wi-Fi QR Code Generator?
This tool creates the standard Wi-Fi text that phone cameras recognise, and draws it as a QR code. Enter the network name, password and security type. Guests scan the code and join without typing the password. Special characters in the name or password are escaped automatically.
How to use it
- Type the exact network name (SSID) as it appears on phones.
- Pick the security type: WPA for most home and office routers, WEP for very old ones, or none for an open network.
- Enter the password, and tick Hidden network only if your network does not broadcast its name.
- Scan the code with a phone to confirm it joins, then print it for your reception or cafe.
Wi-Fi QR Code Generator — FAQ
Which security type should I choose?
Choose WPA for most modern routers, including WPA2 and WPA3 setups. Choose WEP only for very old equipment, and no password only for an open network.
Is it safe to print the code?
Anyone who can see the code can read the password, so display it only where you are happy for people to join. Change the password if it leaks.
Why are some characters escaped with a backslash?
The Wi-Fi format uses semicolons, commas, colons and quotes as separators, so those characters and backslashes in your name or password are escaped to be read correctly.
