What is the Image Cropper?
The Image Cropper trims a photo to a standard shape such as square, 4:5 portrait, 9:16 story or 16:9 widescreen, keeping the centre of the picture. Use it to fit one photo to different social media placements. It works in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.
How it works
The largest area with the chosen width-to-height ratio is taken from the centre of the image. It is then scaled to the output width you set, or kept at full size, and saved as JPG, or as PNG if the original was a PNG.
How to use it
- Choose a photo from your device.
- Pick the shape you need and, if you want, an exact output width.
- Check the preview and press Download.
Image Cropper — FAQ
Can I choose which part of the photo to keep?
This tool keeps the centre. If the subject is off to one side, crop roughly in your phone's gallery first, then use this tool for the exact shape.
Which shape should I use for Instagram?
Square and 4:5 portrait are the usual feed shapes and 9:16 is used for stories and reels. Platforms change their recommendations, so check their current guidance.
Does cropping reduce quality?
Cropping only removes the edges. Quality drops only if you then enlarge the result beyond its new size.
