In short

What is the Image Resizer?

The Image Resizer changes a picture to the pixel width you need, such as 1080 for a social post or 1200 for a website banner. With proportions kept, the height is worked out for you so nothing is stretched. It works in your browser and never uploads the file.

How it works

The new height equals the new width multiplied by the original height and divided by the original width, which preserves the shape. The image is then redrawn at that size and saved in its original format, JPG or PNG.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image from your device.
  2. Type the width you want; untick Keep proportions only if you need an exact height as well.
  3. Check the preview and press Download.
Questions

Image Resizer — FAQ

Will resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so it will look softer.

Which sizes do social platforms use?

Square posts are commonly 1080 by 1080 pixels and stories 1080 by 1920, but platforms change their recommendations, so check their current guidance.

Does it keep transparency?

Yes for PNG files, which are saved as PNG. JPG files stay JPG.
