What is the Remove Duplicate Lines?
The Remove Duplicate Lines tool cleans a list by deleting repeated lines and keeping the first time each one appears. You can ignore differences in capital letters and leading or trailing spaces. It is useful for mailing lists, keyword lists, product codes, URLs and any data copied from several sources.
How to use it
- Paste your list, one item per line.
- Choose whether to ignore capital letters and surrounding spaces.
- Read the cleaned list in the result box.
- Copy it back into your sheet or document.

Which copy of a duplicate is kept?
The first one. Later copies are removed and the original order of the remaining lines is preserved.
What does ignoring case do?
With the option on, Apple and apple count as the same line. The first spelling you typed is the one that stays.
Are blank lines treated as duplicates?
Yes. Several blank lines in a row are reduced to a single blank line, apart from blank lines at the very end of the text, which are dropped.
