Word Counter — FAQ
How does the tool decide what a word is?
Any run of characters separated by spaces or line breaks counts as one word, so "well-known" is one word and "e-mail" is one word.
How are sentences counted?
A sentence ends at a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. Abbreviations such as "Dr." may add an extra sentence, so treat the figure as a close guide.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. The counting happens in your browser and the text never leaves your device.
