What is the URL Encoder & Decoder?

The URL encoder and decoder converts special characters into percent-encoded form so they can sit safely inside a web address, and reverses it when decoding. It is useful for query parameters, redirect links and debugging API calls. Choose component mode for values or full mode for whole URLs.

How to use it

  1. Choose Encode or Decode.
  2. Choose component mode for a single value, or full URL mode to keep slashes and question marks.
  3. Paste your text and copy the result.
Questions

URL Encoder & Decoder — FAQ

What is the difference between component and full URL mode?

Component mode encodes everything except letters, digits and a few symbols, which suits a query value. Full URL mode leaves characters like slash, colon and question mark alone.

Why is a space shown as percent 20?

Spaces are not allowed in URLs, so they are written as the code %20. In form data a plus sign is sometimes used instead.

Why does decoding fail?

A percent sign must be followed by two hexadecimal digits. A stray or incomplete sequence makes the text invalid.
