In short
What is the UUID Generator?
The UUID generator creates random version 4 universally unique identifiers, up to 100 at a time, one per line. They are created locally in your browser using its secure random source, and nothing is sent anywhere. UUIDs are useful as database keys, request IDs and test data.
How to use it
- Enter how many UUIDs you need, from 1 to 100.
- Tick uppercase if your system expects capital letters.
- Copy the list.
Questions
UUID Generator — FAQ
Are the UUIDs really random?
They use your browser secure random generator, so they are suitable for identifiers. They are not a replacement for secret tokens.
Can two UUIDs ever clash?
It is theoretically possible but so unlikely that systems treat version 4 UUIDs as unique in practice.
What does version 4 mean?
It is the variant built from random numbers, as opposed to ones derived from time or names. The fourth block always starts with the digit 4.
