What is the Retirement Date Calculator?

This calculator finds the date someone reaches a retirement age you type. It can use the birthday itself or the last day of the birthday month, since employers differ. It shows the weekday and, from an as-on date, the years, months and days still to go.

How it works

The birthday option adds the retirement age in years to the date of birth, using 28 February when a 29 February birthday has no match. The month-end option moves that date to the last day of its month. Time left is counted in whole months, then days, from the as-on date.

How to use it

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Type the retirement age that applies to you.
  3. Choose the birthday or the month end as the retirement day.
  4. Set an as-on date or leave it empty for today, then read the result.
Questions

Retirement Date Calculator — FAQ

Which retirement age should I enter?

Use the age in your appointment letter, company rules or the law that covers your service. The tool does not assume any age.

Why offer a month-end option?

Some employers retire staff on the last day of the month in which they reach the age, so the option lets you match that rule.

What if my birthday is on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February, the tool uses 28 February as the matching date.
