What is the SIP Goal Calculator?
This SIP goal calculator works backwards from a target amount. Enter the sum you want, the years available and an expected yearly return, and it shows the monthly SIP you would need, the total you would invest and the part that comes from estimated returns.
How it works
The calculator finds what Rs 1 invested every month, at the start of each month, grows to over your period at the yearly return divided by 1200. That factor is ((1 + r)^n - 1) / r x (1 + r). The monthly SIP needed is the target divided by this factor.
How to use it
- Enter the target amount you want to reach.
- Enter the years you have to reach it.
- Type the yearly return you assume.
- Read the monthly SIP required and the total invested.
SIP Goal Calculator — FAQ
What if my return is lower than assumed?
You would reach less than the target. Try a lower return here to see how much extra monthly saving would be needed.
Is the target in today's money?
The tool treats it as a plain future amount. To allow for rising prices, first raise the target using the inflation calculator.
Can I use this for any goal?
Yes, for any goal with a target sum and a deadline, such as education or a down payment. Use a cautious return for short goals.
