What is the RD Calculator?
This RD calculator estimates the maturity value of a recurring deposit made every month. Enter the monthly deposit, the yearly interest rate and the number of months. It assumes quarterly compounding and shows the total deposited, the interest earned and the maturity amount.
How it works
Each monthly deposit earns interest for the months it stays in the account, compounded quarterly at the yearly rate divided by 400. A deposit kept for k months is worth the deposit x (1 + q)^(k / 3), where q is the quarterly rate. The maturity amount is the sum of all deposits.
How to use it
- Enter the amount you will deposit each month.
- Type the yearly interest rate.
- Enter the number of months.
- Read the total deposited, interest and maturity amount.
RD Calculator — FAQ
Why quarterly compounding?
Many banks compound recurring deposit interest every quarter. If yours differs, treat this result as an approximation.
Is the deposit made at the start of each month?
Yes. The first deposit stays for the whole period and the last for one month, which is how this tool counts it.
Can the maturity amount differ from my bank's?
Yes. Day counts, rounding and the bank's own method can cause small differences, so check the deposit receipt.
