What is the Bonus Calculator?
This calculator works out a bonus as a typed per cent of a salary amount, then pro-rates it for the months an employee was eligible out of twelve. The first result is the full-year bonus. The second shows what is payable for the eligible months only.
How it works
The full bonus is the salary amount multiplied by the bonus per cent and divided by 100. The pro-rated bonus is the full bonus multiplied by the eligible months and divided by 12. Eligible months are limited to the range 0 to 12. The per cent is always your own entry.
How to use it
- Enter the salary amount on which the bonus is based.
- Type the bonus per cent from your policy or letter.
- Enter the months eligible out of twelve.
- Read the full bonus and the pro-rated bonus.
Bonus Calculator — FAQ
What bonus per cent should I use?
Use the figure in your offer letter, policy or agreement. This tool assumes no rate and applies only what you type.
Which salary should the bonus be based on?
Policies differ. Enter the amount your policy names, such as annual basic, a monthly figure or a fixed pay base.
Is the pro-rated figure always correct?
It simply spreads the bonus over twelve months. Your policy may set eligibility or part-month rules that differ.
