What is the Cost Per Hire Calculator?
This calculator shows what it costs to fill a role on average. Enter the advertising, agency fees, recruiter time and any other hiring costs for a period, then the number of people hired. It adds the costs and divides by the hires to give the cost per hire.
How it works
Total hiring cost is the sum of advertising cost, agency fees, recruiter time cost and other costs. Cost per hire is the total hiring cost divided by the number of hires made in the same period. If no hires were made, the cost per hire is shown as zero.
How to use it
- Enter job advertising and job board costs.
- Enter agency or consultant fees.
- Enter the cost of recruiter and interviewer time plus any other costs.
- Enter hires made and read the cost per hire.
Cost Per Hire Calculator — FAQ
How do I value recruiter time?
Multiply the hours spent on hiring by the hourly cost of the people involved, and enter the total as recruiter time cost.
Should I include onboarding or training?
Some teams add them and some keep them separate. Use the other costs field if you want them in the figure.
Which period should I measure?
Use the same period for costs and hires, such as a quarter or a hiring drive, so the average is fair.
