What is the Time to Hire Calculator?

This calculator measures how long each role took to fill. Paste one role per line with the date the role opened and the date the offer was accepted. It shows the days for each role, the average, and the fastest and slowest, and it flags any line it cannot read.

How it works

For each line, days to hire is the calendar difference between the accepted date and the opened date. The average is the total days divided by the number of valid roles. The fastest and slowest are the smallest and largest values. Lines with bad dates or a negative gap are skipped.

How to use it

  1. Write one role per line as role | opened date | accepted date.
  2. Use dates in YYYY-MM-DD form, such as 2026-01-05.
  3. Check that the sample format matches your lines.
  4. Read the days for each role and the summary.
Questions

Time to Hire Calculator — FAQ

What counts as the end date?

Most teams use the date the candidate accepted the offer. Some use the joining date instead, so use one rule for all roles.

Is time to hire the same as time to fill?

They are close but differ in practice. Time to fill often starts at the job opening, while time to hire can start when the candidate enters the pipeline.

Why was a line skipped?

A line is skipped if it lacks three parts, has an unreadable date or has an accepted date before the opened date.
